   Mr. Hatch introduced the following bill; which was read twice and
               referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

                                 A BILL

  To amend the independent counsel statute to permit appointees of an
 independent counsel to receive travel reimbursements for successive 6-
                 month periods after 1 year of service.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. AMENDMENT TO THE INDEPENDENT COUNSEL STATUTE TO PROVIDE
              CERTAIN TRAVEL EXPENSE REIMBURSEMENTS.

    (a) In General.--Section 594(b)(3)(A) of title 28, United States
Code, is amended in the second sentence by--
            (1) striking ``by 6 months'' and inserting ``for successive
        6-month periods''; and
            (2) inserting ``on each occasion'' after ``certifies''.
    (b) Effective Date.--The amendments made by this section shall
apply to independent counsels and their appointees effective on or
after December 31, 1995.
